Pinterest Halloween Ideas from Santa’s Elves

October 12, 2012

Halloween is just around the corner and we elves couldn’t be more excited. Halloween is our second favorite holiday, after Christmas of course! It’s one of the few occasions we can dress in full elf uniform and not get funny looks. Nothing sparks my holiday spirit more than putting on my green and red stockings, Santa hat and elf shoes. I simply love it.

Halloween is such a creative holiday. There are so many different decorations, costumes, and treats to choose from.  Since Pinterest and DIY are huge this Halloween season, I’ve put together some of my favorite spooky ideas from my Pinterest board for you to enjoy. Maybe you and your family can try a few!

Halloween Decoration- Crepe Paper Streamer Mummy Door:

This is a super cute and easy to make Halloween decoration for your front door.

What you need:

  • Crepe paper streamers- white
  • White paper for eyes
  • Black marker to color pupils

 How to:

  • Wrap white crepe paper streamer around door to create mummy look.
  • Cut 2 large circles from white paper for eyes
  • Color in 2 smaller circles on the eyes to make pupils
  • Tape eyes to door

Family Halloween Costumes

This post has 8 family costumes with instructions listed.  My favorite one is the Willy Wonka family. They even included the dog! I wonder if we could dress the reindeer as Wonka bars? …… hmmm.

Are you doing a family costume set this year? We want to know what your ideas are.

Halloween Hand print and Arm print Craft

Who doesn’t like arts and crafts? This is a fun and easy craft that kids love because it involves paint. You can display the prints as art or put away as a keepsake. Fun for the whole family.

What you need:

  • Black construction paper
  • Green construction paper
  • Glue
  • Yellow paint for moon
  • Brown paint tree
  • Black paint eyes and mouth
  • White paint for ghost print

How to:

  • Trace a small glass to make a circle and paint it yellow to make a moon
  • Trace child’s hand and arm and paint it so it looks like a leafless tree
  • Trace Child’s foot prints on green construction paper. Then cut out foot print and glue in place.
  • Use a black thumbprint to make the ghosts’ mouth and use black finger prints to make the eyes

A Healthier Halloween Treat

Halloween is all about candy, candy, candy so here is a healthier treat that still looks fun and is delicious!

How to:

  • Pineapple on bottom
  • Mandarin oranges in the middle
  • Topped with cool whip or whipped cream

There you have it. Some of my favorite Halloween treats, crafts, and ideas. I’m off to create a mummy door and make that delicious Halloween parfait.
